The 2024 Dodge Hornet is the brand's new compact SUV, slotting below the Durango and bringing a European-bred platform to the lineup. The Hornet handles with a quick, responsive feel that's rare in this class, and the R/T's hybrid adds instant torque for a strong launch. The ride is firm, especially on the R/T with its sport-tuned suspension, which is the trade-off for its agile cornering. Inside, the cabin is modern with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and cargo space is competitive for the segment, though rear legroom is a bit tight. The GT is the entry point for the Hornet line, skipping the R/T's hybrid system but keeping the same sharp handling and all-wheel drive. Its 2.0L I4 makes 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that gets you 24 mpg combined. The GT rides on 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, so the ride is a bit more forgiving than the R/T's, but you give up the hybrid's instant torque.
