Miles Overview
The Golf R is Volkswagen's hot hatch, the one that packs serious performance into a practical five-door body. It's a blast to drive, with sharp steering and a chassis that feels eager and composed on a back road. The ride is firm, which is the trade for how flat it stays through corners, but it settles down on the highway. Inside, you get a clean, upscale cabin with supportive seats and a hatch that swallows a surprising amount of gear. Its 2.0L I4 makes 315 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual that rewards a deliberate shift hand, and it returns 23 mpg combined.
