Miles Overview
The 2014 Golf is Volkswagen's compact hatchback, the one that competes with the Ford Focus and Mazda3. It feels eager through corners, with a well-calibrated transmission and confident braking that make it a joy on back roads. Inside, the Golf makes clever use of space, offering a roomy cabin and a surprisingly large cargo area for its size. Owners praise the Golf's comfortable ride, useful cubby storage, and the intuitive touchscreen infotainment system. The base Golf sits below the TDI diesel and GTI hot hatch, giving you a lower price and a simpler powertrain. Its 2.5L I5 makes 170 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic, delivering smooth power around town and 26 mpg combined. This trim keeps things straightforward with no performance suspension or turbocharger, which means a softer ride and lower running costs.
