Miles Overview
The 2017 Tiguan is Volkswagen's compact SUV, the one that feels more like a tall hatchback than a traditional family hauler. It drives with a tight, planted feel that makes it genuinely fun on a back road, a trait most rivals in this class don't share. The cabin is simple and well-built, with a tall driving position and a rear seat that's comfy for two adults, though the cargo area is on the small side. Owners praise the Tiguan's peppy acceleration, smooth ride, and the generous trunk space that opens wide for bulky loads. The Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a power driver's seat, and a panoramic sunroof over the Wolfsburg Edition, giving it a noticeably more premium feel inside. Its 2.0L I4 makes 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that gives you confident traction in rain or light snow, and it returns 22 mpg combined. The Sport's standard sport seats hold you tighter through corners than the standard chairs in lower trims, a welcome upgrade if you enjoy the Tiguan's handling.
