Miles Overview
The 2017 Tiguan is Volkswagen's compact SUV, the one that feels more like a tall hatchback than a traditional family hauler. It drives with a tight, planted feel that makes it genuinely fun on a back road, a trait most rivals in this class don't share. The cabin is simple and well-built, with a tall driving position and a rear seat that's comfy for two adults, though the cargo area is on the small side. Owners praise the Tiguan's peppy acceleration, smooth ride, and the generous trunk space that opens wide for bulky loads. The Sport sits between the Wolfsburg Edition and the SEL, adding a sportier look and a few premium touches without jumping to the top-tier price. Its 2.0L I4 makes 200 horsepower and pairs with the six-speed automatic, giving you a willing, responsive powertrain that makes the Tiguan feel sprightly around town. It rolls on larger wheels and gets a stiffer suspension tune than the S, so expect a slightly firmer ride that pays off with flatter cornering.
