Miles Overview
The 2016 Touareg is Volkswagen's full-size luxury SUV, the one you cross-shop with the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the seats are genuinely comfortable for long trips. The cabin feels upscale and roomy up front, though the rear seats don't fold completely flat, which cuts into cargo space. Going with the TDI Sport means you get the torquey diesel engine instead of the V6, which is the trade for the VR6's higher horsepower. This trim also gets you the extra range from a diesel tank, and VW's 24 mpg combined makes it one of the more efficient big SUVs you can buy.
