Miles Overview
The 2014 Touareg is Volkswagen's upscale midsize SUV, the one that shares its bones with the Porsche Cayenne. The ride is smooth and the seats are genuinely comfortable, which owners say makes road trips a pleasure. The cabin is roomy and quiet, with a hatch you can open from the key fob or a dashboard button. Reliability is a mixed bag here, with some owners reporting water pump failures and a few recalls, though others have gone years without trouble. Its 3.6L I6 makes 280 horsepower and pairs with an eight-speed automatic, which owners say feels smooth and responsive around town. The ride is on the firm side, which is the trade for how well it corners compared to the softer TDI.
