Miles Overview
The 911 is Porsche's flagship sports car, and this generation is the one that brought water cooling to the iconic rear-engine layout. It's a driver's car through and through, with a flat-six that sounds fantastic and handling that rewards smooth inputs. The cabin is snug but well laid out, and the convertible's canvas top has a plastic rear window that can haze with sun exposure. Some plastic cooling components can fail with age, so it's worth having a pre-purchase inspection by someone who knows these cars. The Carrera 4 is the all-weather 911, giving you the same 296 horsepower flat-six as the rear-drive Carrera but with the security of all-wheel drive. Its all-wheel drive and 3.4L I6 send power to all four wheels, making it a confident choice in rain or on damp roads without sacrificing the flat-six's character.
