1997 Porsche Boxster Base

The 1997 Boxster is the entry-level Porsche, a mid-engine roadster that brought the brand's spirit to a more accessible price point. It's a joy to drive, with balanced handling and a responsive feel that makes every corner an event. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with a simple dashboard and enough room for two plus a weekend's luggage. Owners mention leaking valve cover gaskets as a common issue, so it's worth checking those seals on any example. The Base Boxster is the purest version of the car, with a manual soft top and cloth seats instead of the optional leather. Its 2.5L I6 makes 201 horsepower and pairs with a five-speed automatic, sending power to the rear wheels for a lively, balanced drive. The optional sport exhaust gives the flat-six a sharper, more aggressive note without overwhelming the cabin.
