Miles Overview
The 1990 911 is the rear-engine sports car that defined Porsche's reputation, offered as a coupe or convertible. It's a driver's car through and through, with sharp steering and a manual gearbox that rewards attention, though it's a bit tough in heavy traffic. The cabin is snug and driver-focused, with quality materials and a leather interior, but it's short on modern conveniences like cup holders. Age brings typical issues like clutch and AC work, and the convertible top can be fragile, so check those seals. The Carrera is the entry point to 911 ownership, giving you the same 3.6L flat-six and rear-wheel drive as the Carrera 2 without the extra weight or complexity of all-wheel drive. Its 3.6L I6 makes 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque, paired with a five-speed manual that makes every shift feel connected to the road. Expect firm, communicative suspension tuning that rewards smooth inputs, and fuel economy around 17 mpg combined if you keep the revs reasonable.
