Miles Overview
This is the 911, Porsche's rear-engine sports car, the one people cross-shop with the Corvette and the NSX. The steering is direct and the chassis feels balanced, so you can place the car exactly where you want it on a back road. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with clear gauges and comfortable seats that hold you in place during hard cornering. Expect to pay a premium for parts and labor, and keep an eye on the cooling system since air-cooled engines run hot. The Carrera 4S is the wide-body, all-wheel-drive version of the standard Carrera, so you get more grip and a more planted feel at the cost of a little extra weight. Its 3.6L I6 makes 282 horsepower and routes it through all-wheel drive, which gives you confident traction in the wet or on loose pavement. The 4S rides on wider wheels and tires than the standard Carrera, which sharpens turn-in and gives the rear end more bite when you get on the throttle.
