Miles Overview
The 2017 Hardtop is MINI's classic three-door hatchback, the one that started the modern brand and still feels like the purest expression of it. Its go-kart steering and stiff suspension make it genuinely fun to hustle down a back road, though the ride is firm enough that you'll feel most bumps. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with a big central speedometer and toggle switches that give it a playful, premium feel. Even base cars get a 6.5-inch display with Bluetooth and a rearview camera, and the available 8.8-inch nav screen adds a crisp touchscreen interface. This is the base Cooper, the entry point to the Hardtop lineup, so you skip the Cooper S's turbo punch but keep the same playful chassis. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 makes 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, and with the six-speed automatic it's eager around town, returning 26 mpg combined.
