Miles Overview
The Hardtop is MINI's entry-level hatchback, the one that started the modern revival and still feels like the purest expression of the brand. It's genuinely fun to drive, with go-kart-like steering and a firm, planted feel that makes city streets and back roads equally entertaining. Inside, the cabin is stylish and well-built, but rear seats are tight and cargo space is modest, so it's best for two people or light loads. Expect higher-than-average maintenance costs and premium fuel, which are the trade-offs for the MINI's character and performance. Its 1.5L I3 makes 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, and with the six-speed automatic it feels eager around town, not quick but willing. The Cooper's standard 15-inch wheels and all-season tires keep the ride compliant, but the trade-off is less grip in hard corners.
