Miles Overview
The 2017 Hardtop is MINI's classic three-door hatchback, the one that started the modern brand and still feels like the purest expression of it. Its go-kart steering and stiff suspension make it genuinely fun to hustle down a back road, though the ride is firm enough that you'll feel most bumps. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with a big central speedometer and toggle switches that give it a playful, premium feel. Even base cars get a 6.5-inch display with Bluetooth and a rearview camera, and the available 8.8-inch nav screen adds a crisp touchscreen interface. The base Hardtop gives up the Cooper's extra power and the John Cooper Works' track-focused hardware, but it's the most affordable way into a MINI and still gets that go-kart handling. Expect 32 mpg combined from this setup, which is excellent for a car that still handles like a MINI should.
