Miles Overview
The Hardtop is MINI's entry-level hatchback, the one that started the modern revival and still feels like the purest expression of the brand. It's genuinely fun to drive, with go-kart-like steering and a firm, planted feel that makes city streets and back roads equally entertaining. Inside, the cabin is stylish and well-built, but rear seats are tight and cargo space is modest, so it's best for two people or light loads. Expect higher-than-average maintenance costs and premium fuel, which are the trade-offs for the MINI's character and performance. The Cooper S adds a more powerful 2.0L I4 over the base Cooper, along with sportier styling cues and a firmer suspension tune. Its 2.0L I4 makes 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic that delivers quick shifts and keeps the engine on boil. The optional sport exhaust lets the engine sing harder under throttle, and the firmer suspension means the ride is taut on rough pavement.
