Miles Overview
The Hardtop 2 Door is MINI's classic hatchback, the one that started it all, and it's the most direct rival to the Fiat 500 and the VW Golf. It's the go-kart feel that sells this car: quick steering, a stiff body, and a ride that's on the firm side, which is the trade for how flat it corners. The cabin is a fun place to sit with its round central screen and toggle switches, though rear-seat space is tight and the boot is small. The 2024 Hardtop gets a new 9.4-inch round OLED touchscreen as standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in. The Cooper is the base trim, with the 1.5L I3 making 134 horsepower and getting 31 mpg combined. Its six-speed automatic sends power to the front wheels, and the 38 mpg highway on the highway makes it an easy daily driver. The Cooper skips the sportier suspension and larger brakes of the Cooper S, so the ride is a touch more forgiving around town.
