Miles Overview
The 2016 S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship luxury sedan and coupe, the one that sets the standard for the rest of the lineup. Even in base form, the S-Class feels effortlessly quick, and the range-topping AMG models are genuinely rapid for their size. The ride is exceptionally smooth and quiet, soaking up bumps that would upset lesser cars, and the seats are outstanding. The cabin is lavish and packed with tech, though the infotainment has a learning curve and the coupe's trunk is small. All-wheel drive and the coupe body set the S 550 4MATIC apart from the rear-drive sedan version of the same trim. Its biturbo 4.7L V8 makes 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic to all four wheels, and returns 19 mpg combined. The AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive damping keeps the ride plush on long trips while tightening up when you push it.
