Miles Overview
The 2016 S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship luxury sedan and coupe, the one that sets the standard for the rest of the lineup. Even in base form, the S-Class feels effortlessly quick, and the range-topping AMG models are genuinely rapid for their size. The ride is exceptionally smooth and quiet, soaking up bumps that would upset lesser cars, and the seats are outstanding. The cabin is lavish and packed with tech, though the infotainment has a learning curve and the coupe's trunk is small. Stepping up to the S 63 AMG swaps the S 550's V8 for a hand-built 5.5L V8 with 577 horsepower and AMG's sport-tuned air suspension. The seven-speed automatic and all-wheel drive put that power down smoothly, and the EPA rates it at 18 mpg combined. This coupe seats four, and its 20-inch AMG wheels and performance tires grip hard without ruining the ride.
