Miles Overview
The S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship sedan, the one that sets the standard for big luxury cars. Despite its size, the S-Class feels surprisingly quick and responsive, with steering that's direct and confident. The ride is exceptionally smooth and quiet, and the seats are plush and supportive for long trips. Inside, you get rich leather, ambient lighting, and a top-notch sound system, though the trunk is a bit small for such a long car. The S 550 gives up the AMG models' track-ready handling and extra power, but saves you tens of thousands while keeping the same air suspension and a near-identical cabin. Its 4.7L V8 makes 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, and the seven-speed automatic shifts smoothly enough that you barely notice it working. The AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive damping lets you switch from a cloud-soft cruise to a tauter, more controlled ride at the press of a button.
