Miles Overview
The 2011 S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship sedan, the big luxury cruiser that sets the standard for the segment. Despite its size, it accelerates with authority, and the steering feels quick and responsive for such a large car. The ride is exceptionally smooth, and the seats are plush and easy to adjust, making long trips effortless. It's a big car, so it can stick out of tight parking spaces, and the trunk is a bit small for the size, but the cabin is spacious and the rear seats are roomy. The S 550 is the sweet spot of the lineup, offering nearly all the luxury of the AMG models without the stiff ride or fuel bill. Its 5.5L V8 produces 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, moved through a seven-speed automatic that shifts smoothly and quickly. The AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive damping keeps the ride plush on the highway while firming up nicely when you push it through corners.
