Miles Overview
The SL is Mercedes' grand two-seat convertible, a roadster that pairs open-air luxury with serious performance. It's a car that feels at home on a winding road, with a composed ride and precise steering that inspire confidence. Inside, you get an elegant cabin with wood accents and leather seats, though the folding hardtop eats into trunk space. Some owners mention loose window seals that let in wind noise at highway speeds, and the auto start-stop can be abrupt. The SL 550 sits between the entry SL 450 and the track-focused SL 63 AMG, trading the V6 for a much stronger V8 while keeping the everyday usability. Its 4.7L V8 makes 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, routed through a nine-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it'll do 0–60 in about four seconds flat. With the folding hardtop up, the cabin stays remarkably quiet, though you'll trade some trunk space for that convertible versatility.
