Miles Overview
The SL-Class is Mercedes' flagship two-seat roadster, a grand tourer that blends open-air cruising with serious performance. It's quick and composed on the highway, though the ride can be firm on rough pavement. Inside, the cabin is elegant with wood accents and leather seats, but the folding hardtop eats into trunk space. Owners mention loose window seals that let in wind noise at speed, and the auto stop-start can feel abrupt. The SL 450 is for buyers who want the SL-Class experience without the V8's price; it shares the same folding hardtop and luxury cabin as the SL 550, just with less muscle under the hood. Its biturbo 3.0L V6 makes 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic that shifts smoothly and returns 23 mpg combined. The adaptive suspension lets you dial in a softer ride for cruising or a firmer setup for corners, but the run-flat tires still transmit more road noise than you might expect from a Mercedes flagship.
