Miles Overview
The SLR is Mercedes' 2006 flagship supercar, a two-seat coupe built with McLaren and priced like a piece of art. The cabin is snug but special, with carbon-fiber shell seats and a center console that feels like a cockpit. Running costs are extreme: figure on premium fuel, pricey parts, and insurance that matches the car's exotic status. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic, and the car feels immense and urgent at any speed. The SLR's ceramic brakes and active front wing are standard; expect a firm ride and 13 mpg combined at the pump.
