Miles Overview
The G-Class is Mercedes' boxy, body-on-frame SUV, a luxury off-roader that's as much a status symbol as a trail tool. It drives with a commanding presence, and the tall seating gives you a clear view over traffic, though the steering feels vague on center. Inside, the cabin blends old-school ruggedness with modern luxury, offering plenty of room for four adults and a sizable cargo area. Owners love the distinctive looks, the solid build, and the comfortable ride, but they note the brakes can squeal and upkeep is pricey. Handcrafted biturbo V8 power and AMG-tuned suspension set the G 63 AMG apart from the G 550 below it. Its 5.5L V8 makes 563 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, which means effortless highway passing and serious off-road capability. Three locking differentials let you crawl over rocks and through mud, but fuel economy is a predictable 13 mpg combined.
