Miles Overview
The G-Class is Mercedes-Benz's boxy, body-on-frame SUV, a luxury off-roader that's been a staple for decades. It drives with commanding presence, and the high seating position gives you a great view of the road ahead. Inside, the cabin is roomy and comfortable, with plenty of space for passengers and cargo. Owners report solid reliability, though some mention squealing brakes and the dated infotainment system. The 4x4 Squared takes the G 550's body and adds portal axles, a wider track, and a lifted suspension for serious off-road capability. Its 4.0L V8 makes 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, and the permanent all-wheel drive with three locking differentials means you can crawl over nearly anything. The two-tone paint with black roof and the carbon-fiber wheel arches are unique to this version, and the ride is notably firmer than a standard G 550's.
