Miles Overview
The SLK-Class is Mercedes' two-seat roadster, the one with a folding hardtop that turns it from coupe to convertible in seconds. It's a genuinely fun car to drive, with sharp steering and a chassis that feels eager through corners. The cabin is snug but comfortable, with heated seats and neck heaters that make top-down driving pleasant in cooler weather. Trunk space is tight with the top down, so plan on packing light for weekend trips. A hand-built 5.5L V8 and AMG-tuned suspension set the SLK 55 AMG apart from the SLK 350 and SLK 280 below it. Its 5.5L V8 makes 355 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it returns 16 mpg combined. The AMG-tuned exhaust barks on startup and snarls under throttle, which is the trade-off for the cabin drone on the highway.
