Miles Overview
The SLK is Mercedes' two-seat roadster, a retractable-hardtop convertible that's more about style and fun than practicality. It's a genuinely fun car to drive, with eager handling and a quick-shifting roof that goes up or down in seconds. The cabin feels snug but comfortable, with heated seats and neck heaters that make top-down driving enjoyable even in cooler weather. Some owners note the roof seals can leak water into the cabin over time, and the low stance means you'll want to watch for steep driveways. A lower starting price and a 3.0L V6 set the SLK 280 apart from the SLK 350 and SLK 55 AMG above it, making it the entry point to Mercedes' two-seat roadster lineup. Its 3.0L V6 makes 228 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, which gives it eager acceleration and a smooth, refined character on the road. Fuel economy comes in at 20 mpg combined, which is reasonable for a convertible of this era, and the retractable hardtop adds a layer of security when parked.
