Miles Overview
The 2005 SL-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship roadster, a two-seat convertible with a folding hardtop that turns it from coupe to open car in seconds. The SL's active suspension keeps it flat through corners, and the steering is precise, making it feel far lighter than its size suggests. Inside, the seats are deeply comfortable and highly adjustable, with heating and cooling that owners love, though the low seats take some effort to climb out of. Running costs are on the high side, with owners noting that repairs and parts can be pricey, especially when they have to come from Europe. Its 6.0L V12 makes 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, routed through a five-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it returns 13 mpg combined. The SL 65's standard Active Body Control suspension firms up in corners but keeps the ride civilized on the highway.
