Miles Overview
The 2004 S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship sedan, the car that sets the standard for full-size luxury. It glides over bumps and corners with a composed, easy confidence that makes long drives feel effortless. The cabin is a quiet, comfortable place with plush leather seats, and the front seats can be heated. Owners report that electrical gremlins and expensive repairs are the main downsides to this generation. The S 500 is the entry-point V8, sitting below the S 430 in power and below the V12 S 600 in the lineup. You get a 5.0L V8 making 302 horsepower through an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, good for 17 mpg combined.
