Miles Overview
The M3 is BMW's compact sports sedan, offered as a coupe, sedan, or convertible for 1998. It's the kind of car that makes you find the long way home, with a high-revving engine and telepathic steering. The near 50/50 weight balance and firm suspension make it a joy on twisty roads, though the ride is on the stiff side. Owners warn that maintenance and parts are pricey, and the staggered tire setup can eat through rubber quickly. With the automatic transmission, the 3.2L I6 is smooth and easy around town, though you'll miss the manual's sharper response on a back road. As a convertible, it's the one M3 where you can drop the top and hear that inline-six sing, but the body is a bit heavier and less rigid than the coupe.
