Miles Overview
The 2001 M3 is BMW's high-performance version of the 3 Series, offered as a coupe or convertible. It's a car that rewards a confident right foot, with eager acceleration and a chassis that makes corners feel like the point of the drive. Inside, the M3 keeps the 3 Series' driver-focused layout, with supportive seats and a trunk that handles a surprising amount of luggage. Owners mention that the SMG transmission can be costly to fix if it fails, and the interior trim can crack in heat. This is the convertible version of the M3, so you give up a little structural rigidity for open-air driving compared with the coupe. The naturally aspirated 3.2L I6 makes 333 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed manual to rear-wheel drive, and it's eager to rev. With the top down, the exhaust note is more present, and the ride stays composed even at 17 mpg combined.
