Miles Overview
This is the high-performance version of BMW's 3 Series, the one enthusiasts cross-shop with the Audi S4 and Mercedes C32 AMG. The M3 is a driver's car through and through, with razor-sharp steering and a chassis that makes every corner feel like an event. Inside, you get supportive sport seats and a clean, driver-focused layout, though rear space is tight and the trunk is modest. Owners report that the SMG transmission can be costly to fix, and the interior trim is prone to cracking in hot climates. This Base trim shares the same high-revving 3.2L I6 and track-capable suspension as the more expensive M3, but skips the SMG paddles and a few interior luxuries to save money. The 3.2L I6 makes 333 horsepower and loves to wind out to its 8,000-rpm redline, and the six-speed automatic is smooth but doesn't have the crispness of the optional manual. You can order this M3 with the Competition Package, which adds 19-inch wheels and a firmer suspension, but expect a stiffer ride on rough pavement as the trade-off.
