Miles Overview
The M3 is BMW's compact sports sedan, offered as a coupe, sedan, or convertible for 1998. It's the kind of car that makes you find the long way home, with a high-revving engine and telepathic steering. The near 50/50 weight balance and firm suspension make it a joy on twisty roads, though the ride is on the stiff side. Owners warn that maintenance and parts are pricey, and the staggered tire setup can eat through rubber quickly. The Base trim is the entry point to M3 ownership, skipping the coupe's stiffer chassis and the sedan's extra doors in favor of the convertible's open-air experience. The 3.2L I6 makes 240 horsepower, and with the automatic transmission it's a relaxed cruiser rather than a track scalpel, trading some of the manual's urgency for easier daily driving.
