Miles Overview
The 7 Series is BMW's flagship sedan, the one you cross-shop with the Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8. It drives with a balance of comfort and athleticism that few large sedans match, even in this generation. The cabin is spacious and hushed, with plenty of room for four adults and a trunk that swallows luggage. Standard iDrive with a large screen handles navigation and audio, and options like night vision and a head-up display were available. The standard-wheelbase body and the base engine set the 740i apart from the long-wheelbase 740Li and the V8-powered 750i. Its 3.0L I6 makes 315 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic for smooth, effortless acceleration, while 20 mpg combined is reasonable for a full-size luxury sedan.
