Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's executive sedan, the one you cross-shop with the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. It's a car that shrinks around you on a twisty road, with accurate steering and a planted feel at speed. Inside, the cabin is quiet and well-built, with supportive seats and plenty of room for four adults. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the easier ones to use, with a crisp screen and logical menus. A silky 3.0L inline-six sets the 540i xDrive apart from the four-cylinder 530i, with enough power to make the daily commute genuinely entertaining. The 3.0L I6 makes 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, routed through a smooth eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that claws through corners with confidence; expect 25 mpg combined on regular fuel.
