Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's executive sedan, the one you cross-shop with the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. It's a car that shrinks around you on a twisty road, with accurate steering and a planted feel at speed. Inside, the cabin is quiet and well-built, with supportive seats and plenty of room for four adults. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the easier ones to use, with a crisp screen and logical menus. The 540i sits between the four-cylinder 530i and the V8-powered M550i, and is the sweet spot for anyone who wants six-cylinder smoothness without the M550i's price. Its 3.0L I6 makes 335 horsepower and pairs with the eight-speed automatic for effortless passing and a relaxed cruise at highway speeds, and you'll see 25 mpg combined in mixed driving.
