Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's executive sedan, the one you cross-shop with the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. It's a car that shrinks around you on a twisty road, with accurate steering and a planted feel at speed. Inside, the cabin is quiet and well-built, with supportive seats and plenty of room for four adults. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the easier ones to use, with a crisp screen and logical menus. The 530i is the base engine in the 5 Series range, and it's the one to pick if you want the sedan's refined ride and handling without the higher price of the 540i or M550i. Its 2.0L I4 makes 248 horsepower and pairs with a smooth eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, which is enough for confident daily driving and returns 28 mpg combined. The 530i's standard suspension is tuned for comfort, so expect a supple ride on the highway rather than the sharper cornering of the M Sport package.
