Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's mid-size luxury sedan, the one you cross-shop with the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6. It's the rare sedan that feels genuinely sharp on a back road, with steering that talks to you and a chassis that stays composed. Inside, you get a clean, driver-focused cabin with plenty of rear legroom and a trunk that swallows luggage for a weekend away. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the easiest to use, with a rotary controller and crisp screen that respond quickly. The 530i uses a 2.0L I4 to get the price below the six-cylinder 540i, trading the smoother engine for better fuel economy. It puts 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a eight-speed automatic, good for 27 mpg combined. The standard suspension is tuned for comfort, so it absorbs bumps well even if it doesn't corner as flat as the optional adaptive dampers.
