Miles Overview
The 7 Series is BMW's flagship sedan, built to take on the Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS. It feels big on the road, but the steering is precise and the chassis keeps it composed through corners. The cabin is hushed and lined with high-quality materials, and the rear seats offer limousine-like legroom. Running costs are high, especially once the warranty expires, and the complex electronics can be expensive to fix. The 745Li is the long-wheelbase 7 Series, adding extra rear legroom and a more commanding presence over the standard 745i. Its 4.4L I8 produces 325 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed automatic to the rear wheels, good for 19 mpg combined.
