Miles Overview
The 2011 5 Series is BMW's mid-size luxury sedan, the one that goes up against the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. It's a car that feels eager and composed on a back road, with steering that tells you exactly what the front tires are doing. The ride is on the firm side, which is the trade for how well it handles, but it still settles down nicely on the highway. Inside, the cabin is roomy for four adults, and the trunk is generous for a sedan of this size. The 3.0L I6 makes 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, and with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, it puts the power down cleanly even in wet or snowy conditions. The xDrive system is a full-time setup that shifts torque front to rear as needed, so you get the 5 Series' sharp handling without the rear-wheel-drive-only traction trade-off.
