Miles Overview
The 2001 5 Series is BMW's executive sedan and wagon, sized between the 3 Series and the 7 Series and aimed at buyers who want driving engagement in a practical package. This generation of 5 Series is known for its communicative steering and balanced chassis, making it one of the most rewarding sedans of its era to drive on a back road. Inside, the cabin is driver-focused with clear gauges and high-quality materials, though rear legroom is merely adequate and the wagon's cargo area is usefully large. Running costs are higher than average for a sedan this age, especially if cooling system or suspension components need attention, but the driving experience makes it worthwhile.
