Miles Overview
The 2021 5 Series is BMW's midsize luxury sedan, the one that splits the difference between the compact 3 Series and the flagship 7 Series. It's a car that feels planted and precise on the highway, yet still eager when you push it through a series of corners. Inside, the cabin is quiet and well put together, with supportive seats and plenty of room for four adults. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the more intuitive in the class, and it's paired with a crisp digital gauge cluster. A smooth inline-six and standard all-wheel drive set the 540i xDrive apart from the rear-drive 530i and 540i trims below it. Its 3.0L I6 makes 335 horsepower and pairs with the eight-speed automatic, returning 26 mpg combined. The M Sport package adds adaptive dampers and a sportier look, but the standard suspension already keeps body roll in check.
