2023 BMW 2 Series 228i xDrive Gran Coupe

The 2023 2 Series is BMW's compact two-door coupe, and the Gran Coupe body style adds four doors for a bit more practicality. It's a rear-drive-biased car that feels eager and balanced, with sharp steering that makes it a joy on a back road. The ride is on the firm side, which is the trade for how well it corners, but it settles down nicely on the highway. Inside, the cabin is snug but well put together, with supportive seats and a clean, driver-focused layout. Its 2.0L I4 makes 228 horsepower and pairs with a eight-speed automatic, which gets you to 60 mph in the mid-six-second range and returns 27 mpg combined. The Gran Coupe body gives you four doors and a usable back seat, so it's a rare compact coupe shape that actually works as a daily driver.
