Miles Overview
The 2018 6 Series is BMW's grand-touring flagship, offered as a sleek Gran Coupe or a drop-top convertible for those who want luxury with a sporting edge. It's a car that loves the highway, settling into a long-legged cruise with effortless power and a hushed cabin, though the ride can feel a bit firm over sharp bumps. Despite its size, it changes direction with surprising agility, and the steering gives you a clear sense of what the front tires are doing. Inside, you get a beautifully crafted cabin with comfortable seats and plenty of tech, but rear headroom in the Gran Coupe is tight for taller passengers. All-wheel drive and the V8 set the 650i xDrive Gran Coupe apart from the rear-drive 640i, giving you all-weather traction without losing the grand-touring character. The 4.4L V8 makes 443 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, routed through an eight-speed automatic that shifts smoothly on the highway and snaps off quick downshifts when you want to pass. Expect 19 mpg combined and a firm ride that trades some comfort for the grip and stability of the xDrive system on wet or snowy roads.
