2025 BMW 5 Series 540i xDrive

The 5 Series is BMW's executive sedan, the one that splits the difference between the 3 Series and the 7 Series. It's the rare car that feels smaller than it is, with a planted, confident stance that makes long highway miles easy. Inside, the cabin is quiet and well-built, with supportive seats and plenty of room for four adults. The big curved display runs BMW's latest iDrive, which pairs crisp graphics with a rotary controller that's easy to use on the move. The 540i xDrive steps up from the 530i's four-cylinder to BMW's smooth inline-six and adds standard all-wheel drive. With 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque from the 3.0L I6, the eight-speed automatic shifts quickly and the all-wheel drive gives you grip in any weather. You'll appreciate the adaptive suspension's comfort on rough roads, though it's an option worth adding for the extra composure.
