Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's mid-size luxury sedan, the one most people cross-shop with the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It drives with the balance and composure you expect from BMW, feeling athletic yet comfortable on a long highway run. The cabin is roomy for four adults, and the trunk swallows a weekend's luggage without fuss. Standard tech includes a curved display with the latest iDrive, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a suite of driver assists. The 530i xDrive is how you get the 5 Series with all-wheel drive in its most efficient form, though the 540i xDrive adds a much stronger inline-six. Its 2.0L I4 makes 255 horsepower and pairs with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, which gives good traction in rain or slush while returning 30 mpg combined. What this trim doesn't have is the adaptive suspension that comes on higher trims, so the ride is a bit firmer over choppy pavement than the 540i's.
