Miles Overview
The 2023 BMW 5 Series is a midsize luxury sedan that blends executive comfort with the brand's signature athleticism. It goes head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6, offering a more driver-focused take on the segment. The 5 Series feels composed and eager, with precise steering and a chassis that rewards smooth inputs on a back road. Inside, the cabin is roomy and well-built, with supportive seats and a clean, driver-oriented layout. Standard tech includes BMW's iDrive infotainment with a large touchscreen, plus a full suite of driver assistance features. The 540i splits the difference between the four-cylinder 530i and the V8-powered M550i, giving you a straight-six without stepping up to the top-tier price. Its 3.0L I6 makes 335 horsepower and pairs with a eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, delivering smooth, effortless acceleration that makes highway merging a non-event. The 540i returns 27 mpg combined, which is respectable for a six-cylinder luxury sedan, and its standard adaptive suspension keeps the ride comfortable over long distances.
