Miles Overview
The 4 Series is BMW's two-door coupe and convertible, sized between the 3 Series sedan and the larger 8 Series. If you're also looking at an Audi A5 or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, this is the one that leans hardest into driver engagement. The steering is quick and the chassis feels eager, so it's genuinely fun to hustle down a back road. The ride is on the firm side, which is the trade for how well it corners, but it settles down on the highway. A muscular straight-six and sharper suspension tuning set the M440i apart from the four-cylinder 430i coupe and convertible. That 3.0L I6 makes 382 horsepower and drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic, and the convertible body adds 200-some pounds without dulling the punch. An optional M Sport differential helps the rear end rotate through tight corners, so you get a tail-happy feel without giving up everyday composure.
