Miles Overview
The 4 Series is BMW's mid-size coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe, the one you cross-shop with the Audi A5 and Mercedes C-Class Coupe. It's the kind of car that makes you take the long way home, with sharp steering and a chassis that feels planted through fast corners. The ride is on the firm side, especially with the sport suspension, but it stays composed enough for daily commuting. Inside, the cabin is driver-focused and well-built, though rear seats are snug in the coupe and convertible versions. Stepping up from the 430i gets you the 3.0L I6, a much stronger engine that transforms the car's character on the road. The 3.0L I6 makes 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, and with all-wheel drive and the eight-speed automatic it feels quick and planted in all conditions. The Gran Coupe body adds two more doors and a hatchback, making it noticeably more practical than the coupe without losing the sporty look.
