Miles Overview
The 4 Series is BMW's mid-size coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe, the one you cross-shop with the Audi A5 and Mercedes C-Class Coupe. It's the kind of car that makes you take the long way home, with sharp steering and a chassis that feels planted through fast corners. The ride is on the firm side, especially with the sport suspension, but it stays composed enough for daily commuting. Inside, the cabin is driver-focused and well-built, though rear seats are snug in the coupe and convertible versions. The 440i Gran Coupe splits the difference between the 430i's four-cylinder and the M4's raw track focus, with a strong six-cylinder and a practical hatchback body. Its 3.0L I6 produces 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, routed through the eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it returns 25 mpg combined. The Gran Coupe body gives you four doors and a hatchback, so the trunk opening is much larger than the coupe's.
